Rental terms

Booking, deposit, balance, security deposit, arrival and departure, life in the house: the key rental terms of the gîte, in plain words.

The essentials

The gîte is a self-catering rental: you are independent, with no meals or services imposed. Signing the contract means accepting these terms and the house rules.

Booking

  • Deposit: 30% of the total amount when booking
  • Balance: 15 days before arrival
  • Payment: by bank transfer
  • Length of stay: 2 nights minimum outside school holidays; by the week, Saturday to Saturday, during French school holidays
  • Insurance: a certificate of holiday third-party liability insurance in the tenant’s name is attached to the contract
  • Cancellation: according to Gîtes de France cancellation terms

Security deposit

A security deposit of €1,000 is requested on arrival. It is returned no later than one month after your departure, after the check-out inspection, minus any repairs or missing items.

Arrival and departure

  • Arrival from 5 pm, departure before 10 am. Tidying up is done before departure time.
  • Let us know if you will arrive late.
  • The keys are handed to the person who signed the contract. Together we carry out the inspection and inventory, on arrival and on departure.

Capacity

  • 10 guests maximum.
  • No sleeping outside the bedrooms (living room, games room, hallways) and no camping on the property.
  • The layout of the beds must not be changed.

Living in the house

  • Quiet: no noise between 11 pm and 7 am, doors and windows closed in the evening. Parties and outdoor speakers (sound systems, subwoofers) are not allowed.
  • Smoking: not allowed indoors; ashtrays outside.
  • Pets: not accepted. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome free of charge.
  • Furniture: indoor furniture stays indoors; garden furniture is provided outside.
  • Walls: no nails, screws, tape or putty.
  • Kitchen: no additional cooking appliances; no extra heaters in the bedrooms.
  • Toilets: nothing but toilet paper in the toilets.
  • Linen: bed linen and towels are provided; please use the sheets provided and leave the mattress protectors in place.
  • Internet: must be used in accordance with the law.
  • Breakdowns: let us know and we will arrange the repair.

Safety

  • The house is equipped with smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. Safety instructions are displayed in the entrance and the bedrooms.
  • Barbecue: keep a watering can nearby, do not use in strong wind. No open fires on the property.
  • Children: they remain the responsibility of their parents. The stream and the wetland present a risk of drowning: children never go there without an adult.
  • Drive at walking pace near the property.
  • CCTV: 6 cameras are installed on the façade to deter burglaries.

Departure

End-of-stay cleaning is included. We only ask you to leave the house tidy [à confirmer : liste minimale]:

  • dishes washed;
  • bins taken out;
  • fridge emptied.

Energy

Water is included. Electricity is included up to 15 kWh per night from March to September and 45 kWh per night from October to February. The meter is read on arrival and departure; beyond that, each kWh is charged €0.30.
